We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP IT Analyst to serve as the Workstream Lead for our S/4HANA transformation project. In this high-impact role, you will initially own the design and delivery of the SAP S/4HANA Logistics and Quality Management landscape, spanning Sourcing & Procurement (MM), Inventory Management (IM), Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), and Quality Management (QM). Post-project, you will transition into an operational role, driving continuous process improvements and business-driven digital transformations to optimize our supply chain, material reliability, and safety compliance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Workstream Leadership: Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of the SAP S/4HANA Logistics and Quality Management tracks in collaboration with the System Integrator (SI), serving as the core IT functional authority for SAP MM, IM, EWM, and QM modules.
- Team Enablement & Mentorship: Oversee, guide, and mentor junior IT analysts within the enterprise systems team, fostering their technical growth and ensuring alignment with project delivery standards.
- Business Requirement Alignment & Solution Design: Develop a comprehensive understanding of business requirements and processes to guarantee that the functional design effectively supports operational needs within the SAP Sourcing & Procurement (MM), Warehouse Management (EWM), and Quality Management (QM) streams.
- Automated Material Replenishment: Design, configure, and optimize SAP MRP Live capabilities to improve utility inventory replenishment, ensure optimal safety stock levels for critical grid infrastructure, and minimize procurement lead times.
- Utility Operations Architecture: Blueprint and configure processes tailored to utility procurement and warehouse operations, including direct/indirect procurement (SAP MM-PUR / P2P), warehouse management (SAP EWM) for operational inventory and utility-specific assets (transformers, cabling, sub-station components), and integrated quality inspection loops (SAP QM).
- Data Migration Strategy: Collaborate on robust strategies for data migration to S/4HANA, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and alignment of transferred master and transactional logistics data with business objectives.
- Enterprise Integration Management: Safeguard critical cross-functional integration points between core SAP MM, EWM, and QM modules and Finance (FI/CO), Enterprise Asset Management / Plant Maintenance (EAM/PM for grid assets), and external vendor networks.
- System Readiness: Partner with IT Champions and the IT Sponsor to guarantee system readiness across the SAP Logistics and Quality Management tracks throughout all project milestones.
- User Acceptance Testing Support: Provide essential technical guidance to the business team during the Design and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases, ensuring swift resolution of any functional or technical configuration issues that arise in SAP MM, EWM, or QM.
- Continuous Improvement & Long-Term Roadmap: Drive long-term operational value after system go-live by proposing optimization opportunities and leading business-driven enhancements within the S/4HANA platform.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Partner directly with Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Quality Assurance, Finance, and EAM teams to establish standard SAP S/4HANA capabilities that streamline end-to-end processes and drive organizational efficiency.
- Enablement & Documentation: Drive organizational adoption across the workforce by maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, updating configuration playbooks, and delivering advanced training to SAP super-users.

Provides advanced specialized business process and technical support utilizing SMUD’s various enterprise and other integrated technology solutions in the areas of design, configuration, operation, maintenance, and enhancement; serves as a key functional resource to the user community to ensure reliability, accessibility and effectively meet the needs of the business unit overall; serves in a lead role in one or more specialty areas on a regular basis.

- Journey: Incumbent is demonstrating the required skills and knowledge to independently perform the full scope of the job.
Non-Flex Classifications (that promote from lower-level classes to higher level classes and require an examination, such as an interview, based upon individual experience and performance) within the series:
- Senior: Advanced journey level resource who is responsible for advanced assignments, as dictated by the work needing to be performed; may serve in a lead and/or supervisory capacity.
- Principal: Subject matter expert/lead/supervisory level and is responsible for leading the most advanced work, as dictated by the work needing to be performed.
Entry/Intermediate to Journey: Incumbents at the entry (or intermediate) level are required to successfully “progress” to the journey level within 60 months of appointment to remain within the job series.
Seniors and Principals must be hired through a promotional process and do not automatically progress from lower levels in the series.

- Enterprise Systems Design:
- Guides and participates in the design and configuration efforts of various enterprise technology solutions to support business units; develops detailed designs and defines user requirements by collaborating with process owners; documents business processes and transaction steps; defines codes and values; addresses integration issues; develops testing criteria and conducts testing; plans implementation strategies; communicates technical information to the user community.
- Enterprise Applications - Modifications and Enhancements:
- Assesses the need for modification and enhancement to existing enterprise applications by evaluating effectiveness of current technology; guides user group forums; performs workflow and process assessments; identifies impacts to business processes; revises user and system requirements; designs modifications and prepares change notices; integrates modifications; develops testing criteria and conducts testing; provides technical consultation and solutions.
- Enterprise Applications - Optimization:
- Supports the use of enterprise applications systems by their users; offers technical support and user training; establishes training needs and develops training materials; conducts classroom and on-the-job training; troubleshoots user obstacles and system problems through training and/or on-line support; provides technical consultation and solutions.
- Enterprise System Reporting:
- Provides business units with business necessity information by designing user reports; modifies and produces standard and custom reports and forms; performs ad-hoc queries; works with users to define reporting needs.
- Project Management – Functional/Technical Focus:
- Spearheads moderate to complex projects; plans, reviews, coordinates, conducts, and/or guides work activities and research of information associated with internal/external business unit projects in accordance with established task objectives and schedules as outlined in the project plan/contract; resolves complex issues both from a technical and functional perspective; performs or assists in the preparation of procurement or bid documents, the evaluation of proposals, and the recommendation of awards to contractors or vendors.
- Other:
- Directs, consults and develops entry, intermediate and journey level staff; participates in selecting and orienting new staff; plans, monitors, and organizes team tasks; provides staff training; evaluates work performance results; administers the department budget by participating in planning, monitoring, and revising schedules, work plans, expenditures, and assignments.

Required Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience Qualifications
- At least five (5+) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience supporting business units/departments utilizing enterprise application systems and business evaluation, process design, configuration, testing, documentation, and implementation.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience: 7 or more (7+) years of progressive functional experience in SAP Logistics and Quality Management. Hands-on implementation or migration experience specifically within SAP S/4HANA is highly desired.
- Core Technical Expertise: Demonstrated configuration experience across SAP Sourcing & Procurement (MM), Inventory Management (IM), Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), and Quality Management (QM).
- Leadership Capability: Proven experience overseeing project deliverables and mentoring junior team members or functional analysts in an enterprise IT environment.
- Value Stream Optimization: Proven experience optimizing value streams by integrating SAP Logistics and QM modules with SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Plant Maintenance (PM).
- MRP Optimization Expertise: Proven hands-on experience setting up material requirements planning (MRP) and inventory forecasting parameters within an SAP ECC or S/4HANA database framework.
- Lifecycle Delivery: Proven track record of leading at least one (1) full-lifecycle SAP implementation from blueprinting through go-live, acting as a workstream lead or functional track owner.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of S/4HANA Logistics and Quality Management data structures, Business Partner (BP) concepts, material ledger impacts, and standard Activate methodology.
- Skills: Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and architectural design skills. Strong relationship-building capability with a proven ability to partner with business stakeholders and drive post-implementation continuous improvements.
- Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
- SAP Certification in S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement, SAP EWM, or SAP Quality Management is highly preferred.
